There is no evidence yet of who is behind the drone attack on a ship in the Black Sea, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said. He said the situation is still unclear and he cannot make firm claims.
Radev told reporters: "So far I have heard all kinds of theories. Many of them are based on logical assumptions, but so far I have not seen a single piece of evidence." At this stage, he said, any guess about the source of the attack is possible.
"There are logical grounds that point to one country, but we have no evidence to say so with certainty," the prime minister added.
Bulgarian military personnel boarded the damaged ship today and carried out a detailed search for drone debris. None has been found so far. Radev praised them for their courage and high professionalism.
On Thursday, 8 October, Radev met Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ukrainian president's office, in Sofia. The visit was at Budanov's request and was held in full secrecy for security reasons, the Council of Ministers' press office said.
At the meeting, Budanov set out Ukraine's position on a possible peaceful end to the war, which Russia began with its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Radev said efforts for peace must be supported. He said an end to the fighting matters greatly to all of Europe, because everyone pays a very high social and economic price. The prime minister believes it is time to make full use of diplomacy, with all channels of communication and dialogue.
