Protest in Plovdiv for justice after an accident in Sunny Beach

Dozens gathered in front of the Courthouse in Plovdiv to express their outrage and solidarity with the family affected by a serious incident in the Sunny Beach resort complex. The protest is directed against the decision of the Nessebar court to release the 18-year-old ATV driver who caused the accident under house arrest. The participants in the demonstration, including relatives, acquaintances, and sympathetic citizens, are demanding justice and warning of the danger that the case might be covered up by the institutions.

Against the backdrop of tense shouts, the protesters called for a fair and open trial. The demonstrators, whose indignation was palpable, stated that they had lost faith in the justice system.

"There's no court, no Ministry of Interior, this isn't a state, everything is over within a few weeks and there are no guilty parties," were words heard repeatedly among the crowd, expressing deep disappointment with the lack of justice.

They are demanding that the charges against the young man be reclassified to a more serious one, corresponding to the severity of the consequences. The affected family is from Plovdiv, which further mobilized the local community to express their support.

Meanwhile, the condition of the woman hospitalized after the incident remains critical. She is admitted to the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment (UMBAL) – Burgas, where she is in the "Resuscitation" department in a coma. Her medical indicators remain worrying. A three-year-old child, also injured in the accident, is in the same hospital. The deputy director of the medical facility confirmed that three of those admitted to the hospital have already been discharged.

In the context of public tension, it became clear that the acting Prosecutor General, Borislav Sarafov, has requested the pre-trial proceedings for the case. He has notified the Burgas prosecutor's office with a request to transfer the investigation to the National Investigation Service (NIS), using his powers to ensure the independence and objectivity of the process.

Details of the tragic incident
