Activists from the international organization "Greenpeace" carried out a large-scale action in the Bay of Burgas, painting the message "No Gas + Oil" on the hull of the tanker "Kairos." The ship has been anchored in the area for over six months, and environmentalists are demanding urgent measures against the risks it poses to the Black Sea ecosystem.

"This action aims to draw attention to the serious risks of fossil fuel transport and to question the security of the region," the organization emphasized.

Suspicions of leaks and satellite evidence

What do we know about "Kairos"?

The tanker is part of the so-called "Russian shadow fleet" and is subject to sanctions by the EU and the UK for the transport of oil products. The ship was towed to the Bay of Burgas following an incident near Ahtopol in late 2024 and has remained under surveillance since then. Environmentalists are calling for a thorough investigation and chemical analysis of the waters to determine the origin of the pollution.
