Burgas Municipality is implementing the project "My World of Interests" for intercultural education. The project includes activities with children, meetings with parents, and information campaigns on tolerance, thereby promoting inclusion.

Burgas Municipality, in partnership with the kindergarten "Zvezditsa Zornitsa", the kindergarten "Barborino" - Sredets, and the "Verniyat Nastoynik" Association, is working on the implementation of the project BG05SFPR001-1.004-0071 "My World of Interests".

The project is funded under the "Education" Program 2021–2027, which is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).

The enterprise is aimed at stimulating intercultural education and creating a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for children, parents and pedagogical specialists. This is achieved through various activities that integrate culture, science and sport.

Within the framework of Activity 1 "Working with children and students to implement intercultural education", five thematic clubs have been created: "Small Creators", "Traditions and Crafts", "Healthy and Happy", "Dances and Music" and "Design Champions".

We observe how children participate in a rich palette of activities that cultivate their creativity, encourage research thinking and strengthen respect for cultural differences.

In addition, thematic meetings are organized - special events dedicated to holidays, customs and traditions, as well as inter-institutional initiatives that bring together participants from both kindergartens and the local community. These formats provide an opportunity to share experience, joint events and exchange cultural values.

Of crucial importance to the project is Activity 3, which focuses on intensive work with parents to build a community of active parents. Each kindergarten organizes three meetings with parents from vulnerable groups, led by educational mediators and pedagogical specialists.

The topics discussed during these meetings include support for the development of children, building trust between the family and the kindergarten, as well as encouraging communication and inclusion.

During these gatherings, parents have the opportunity to share difficulties, participate in practical activities and receive guidance on how to support their children in learning and socialization.

In the implementation of Activity 4 "Conducting information campaigns aimed at preventing discrimination based on race, ethnic origin or religious affiliation", the partner "Verniyat Nastoynik" Association conducts a survey among parents and teachers. It aims to explore attitudes and understanding on topics such as cultural diversity, tolerance and discrimination.

The results of this survey will serve to develop an information campaign "Tolerant Together", which aims to raise public awareness and prevent hate speech. The campaign will include a series of information events, exhibitions, workshops and creative initiatives in which children, parents and representatives of the local community will participate.

Through the joint efforts of the three partner organizations, the project builds a model for sustainable cooperation between educational institutions, families and the civil sector.

Project activities continue until June 2027. It is expected that they will cover over 230 children and 100 parents from the municipalities of Burgas and Sredets. "My World of Interests" demonstrates that tolerance, understanding and respect begin in kindergarten - through shared experiences, creativity and care for each other.
