The presidents Trump and Putin discussed international issues over the phone.

According to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, during the telephone conversation between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, the Russian leader congratulated his American counterpart on his birthday and confirmed that Moscow is ready to continue negotiations with Ukraine within the framework of the so-called Istanbul track.

Putin also stated that Russia is ready to play the role of a mediator in resolving the conflict between Iran and Israel, while at the same time condemning Israel's actions. Ushakov described the conversation as "useful" and pointed out that both sides expressed satisfaction with the "positive personal relations" between Trump and Putin.

It is not specified who of the two presidents initiated the telephone conversation.
