The consumer basket remains stable, prices of some goods vary

The value of the consumer basket remains unchanged at 97 leva during the past week, announced the chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT), Vladimir Ivanov. He gave a press conference at the commission's headquarters, where he presented the weekly overview of the DKSBT regarding the movement of wholesale prices of basic food products, fruits and vegetables.

According to the presented data, the market demonstrates normal functioning without negative phenomena. Regardless of this, the value of the consumer basket is maintained, despite the potential conditions for rising prices during the autumn-winter period. Changes are especially noticeable in fruits and vegetables, which are going out of their active season.

"There are no distortions, but normal market interaction," said Ivanov.

During the press conference, it became clear that during the past week, price drops were recorded in onions, cabbage, grapes, lemons, apples, and bananas.

On the other hand, a rise in the prices of tomatoes and cucumbers has been noted, which is mainly explained by seasonal factors.

An increase in the prices of a number of other products is observed. Potatoes have increased by 11 stotinki, green peppers - by 8 stotinki, red peppers - by 14 stotinki, zucchini - by 23 stotinki, and watermelons - by 4 stotinki. An increase in the price of pork by 32 stotinki, rice by 10 stotinki, as well as fresh and sour milk by 3 stotinki each was also reported.

In contrast, eggs maintain their value during the reporting period.

The chairman of DKSBT, Vladimir Ivanov, also shared information about the international prices of wheat, noting their stabilization. He stressed that the market for grain products is functioning in a balanced manner.

Regarding oil, Ivanov pointed to an upward trend in prices, which is associated with two consecutive years of unfavorable conditions.

In conclusion, Ivanov added that the price of cocoa is being maintained in October, while an increase is reported for "Arabica" coffee.
