Funeral of Border Policeman Stefan Ivanov in Burgas

On October 10th, a day shrouded in palpable grief, employees of the Ministry of Interior gathered at the Burgas cemetery. Their purpose – to pay their last respects to Stefan Ivanov, a border police officer who lost his life while performing his duty, in a risky rescue operation in the Elenite resort. The profound tragedy echoed in the hearts of all who knew him.

The atmosphere around the cemetery park was filled with silence, broken only by the muffled sighs of those gathered. Dozens of uniformed personnel, assembled from all corners of the country, stood with sympathy in their eyes, sharing the pain of the family and relatives of the deceased.

This path to eternity, determined for Stefan Ivanov, was described as an indescribable loss for the country. He was called a "true sea wolf", a man who dedicated his life to protecting others.

In addition to employees of the Ministry of Interior, representatives of the air force and navy were also present at the ceremony. The loss of Stefan united many people, many of whom had personal memories of him. They shared a friendship with the tragically deceased boatswain. For many, he was more than a colleague – he was a friend, a partner in difficult situations.

Stefan Ivanov was a long-time employee in the Ministry of Interior system, dedicated to his service. Just a month ago, he had submitted a request for retirement, intending to move on to a more peaceful stage of his life. Fate, however, had other plans.

The director of "Border Police", Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, also participated in the paying of last respects. "We will send Boatswain Stefan Ivanov on his eternal path with honors and a ceremony on 10.10.2025 at 12:00 in the ritual ceremony house of the Burgas Cemetery (Izgrev residential complex)", he wrote in an official announcement. His words echoed as a final bow to the worthily accomplished life of Stefan Ivanov, worthy of honor and remembrance.
