Upcoming changes in the organization of traffic on road I-2 in the Shumen area will come into force from June 20. Restrictions will be imposed on the passage of heavy vehicles on the section at the 118th km of the first-class road and on the road connection connecting road I-2 and the Hemus motorway at the 350th km. The traffic of heavy vehicles in the direction from the Hemus motorway to Varna, Ruse, Burgas and Shumen will be redirected through the Belokopitovo road junction on the motorway at the 339th km.
These changes are related to preparatory activities for the construction of a new roundabout at the first-class road in the area of the 118th km. The construction and installation works in the 600-meter section will be carried out in three stages within 240 calendar days from the opening of the construction site. The construction of the new roundabout to the Shumen Industrial Park, which will replace the current three-way intersection, will be financed under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, Component 3 "Smart Industry" of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The contractor for the project, after an open procedure conducted by the Shumen Regional Road Administration under the Public Procurement Act, is "Avtomagistrali - Cherno more" AD. The value of the contract amounts to 1,523,636.35 BGN with VAT. The Shumen Regional Road Administration is partnering with the Shumen Municipality and the Shumen Industrial Park for the implementation of the project.
