In a solemn atmosphere, filled with pride and anticipation, Burgas marked a historic moment for its higher education and healthcare. Today, in the "Kompas" hall of the Congress Center, the official graduation ceremony was held for the first class of doctors from "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" Burgas State University. A total of 31 graduates from the "Medicine" specialty received their diplomas, beginning their professional journey.
The event stage was lined with official guests, among whom were prominent figures from the highest levels of state and academic elite. Minister of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvi Kirilov, Deputy Minister of Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petar Nikolov, Burgas Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov, and the city's mayor Dimitar Nikolov were among the honorary guests. They were joined by representatives of the academic community, healthcare institutions, and key organizations, all of whom came to show their respect for the achievement of the young professionals.
The emotion was palpable not only among the graduates but also among their families and loved ones who filled the hall. Their faces visibly expressed excitement and pride at the completion of a long and challenging stage in their children's lives.
Messages to the Future Doctors
In his address to the graduates, Minister of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvi Kirilov emphasized the significance of the moment. He described their graduation as
"a symbol of a new beginning" and "a great success after years dedicated to study and hard work".The Minister offered guidance to the future medical professionals, urging them to be
"worthy, to continually improve, and to be an example".
He also noted the importance of establishing the Faculty of Medicine in Burgas, calling it
"a remarkable step that has a positive impact on healthcare in the Burgas region" and "an important step for the development of medical education".
"Thanks to the efforts of everyone, thirty-one young doctors will have the chance to contribute to the improvement of Bulgaria's healthcare system", Minister Kirilov added, expressing his high appreciation for their preparation.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petar Nikolov joined his words. In his emotional address, he stated that he saw in the graduates not just young people, but individuals who had chosen the calling to do good.
"There is no other field, no other profession or calling that gives more satisfaction than doing good. Thank you for choosing this path", said Deputy Minister Nikolov.

The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, described the event as "historic", recalling the city's long-standing dream of establishing medical education. He thanked everyone who contributed to the realization of this project and highlighted the key role of the newly-trained doctors for the future of Burgas.
The university's Rector, Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozov, described this day as
"the fruit of a bold step", addressing the graduates directly. He reminded them that the path they have chosen requires
"a lot of hard work, dedication, and continuous improvement".
"You are not only the present; you are also the future of healthcare in Burgas, in Bulgaria, and around the world", Bozov stated. He stressed that a true doctor never stops learning because
"continuous development is the guarantee that you will be ready for any challenge".
Among the other officials who attended the ceremony were Deputy Mayor for Education, Healthcare, and Social Activities Mihail Nenov, the former university rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikolay Radev, and representatives of the Regional Department of Education and the Regional College of the Bulgarian Medical Association.
