OECD and Young People: Conference in Burgas on Success and Innovation

The Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs is organizing a conference today, October 30, at the Bulgaria Hotel in Burgas, which promises to illuminate the path of young people in Bulgaria. The theme of the forum is "How Bulgaria's membership in the OECD works for the success of young people: innovations in education and youth entrepreneurship".

The event, which is being held within the framework of the National Roadmap 2023–2025 for the country's accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), aims to introduce the local community in Burgas and the region in detail to the potential benefits of future membership.

The atmosphere in the hotel is filled with tension and anticipation. Guests gather, animatedly conversing and sharing their hopes for the future. The forum will provide a valuable platform for dialogue between leading figures from various spheres - academia, the non-governmental sector, representatives of the state administration, and the private sector. Discussions will focus on key topics, including the quality of education, digital transformation, and the promotion of entrepreneurship among young people.

The opening of the conference will be led by Tanya Mihailova, Director of the Diplomatic Institute. Welcome speeches are planned by Ivanka Tasheva, Director of the "Foreign Economic Relations and Development Cooperation" Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mihail Nenov, Deputy Mayor of Burgas Municipality, and Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov, Rector of Burgas Free University.

The program includes three extensive panel discussions, which promise to provoke in-depth discussions. The first of them, entitled "Education for the Future", will examine the challenges and opportunities facing the educational system. The next, "Innovations and Digital Transformation in Education", will focus on new technologies and their impact on the learning process. The last discussion, "Skills and Youth Entrepreneurship", will analyze the paths for developing the entrepreneurial spirit among young people. Participants include representatives of key institutions, including the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Ministry of Education and Science, Burgas Free University, Burgas Municipality, and business organizations from the region.

Experts from the OECD Secretariat in Paris are expected to participate online, as well as members of the Youth Advisory Board to the organization, known as Youthwise.

The conference is part of a broader series of initiatives aimed at raising awareness of the priorities and opportunities that Bulgaria's membership in the OECD will open for young people and the education system.
