Traffic Restrictions on Trakia Motorway

The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) announced traffic restrictions on the Trakia motorway, which will be implemented in various sections starting today.

Repair works, necessary to ensure travel safety, necessitate changes in traffic organization in several stages.

Significant difficulties are expected for travelers on the motorway in the coming days. RIA announced that in the section from the 5th to the 54th kilometer, in Sofia region, there will be a partial traffic restriction.

• From today until September 18, between 9:00 and 16:00, traffic in the overtaking lane towards Bourgas will be gradually restricted, with traffic being redirected to the active and emergency lanes.
• Between September 19 and 21, during the same hours, the same restriction will apply to the section from the 13th to the 54th kilometer, this time towards Sofia.

Additional restrictions are planned for today. Between 9:00 and 19:00, traffic in the section between the 26th and 24th kilometer towards Sofia and between the 23rd and 24th kilometer towards Bourgas will only be possible in the active and emergency lanes.

The reason is asphalt works in this section in the Sofia region, which will lead to a complete cessation of passage through the overtaking lanes.

RIA apologizes for the inconvenience these restrictions will cause to drivers. The agency appeals to all road users to strictly observe road signs, drive with caution and refrain from risky overtaking to avoid accidents and ensure the safety of all.

Observers note that the repair works are essential for maintaining the safety of the motorway.

The situation is further complicated by the announcement of yesterday_q_s traffic restriction in the section from the 33rd to the 34th kilometer towards Sofia, where passage on the active lane was stopped due to asphalt works.

Road crews are working intensively to minimize difficulties for travelers, but the motorway is expected to be significantly more congested during the specified periods. Despite the lack of official data on traffic jams, tension and uncertainty prevail among travelers on site.
