The Municipal Council in Burgas unanimously supported the proposal of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov for the construction of a large-scale "Archaeological and Thermal Park Aquae Calidae - Burgas Mineral Baths". The idea of the local administration is to turn this place into a large cultural and historical complex, divided into three main zones.
The first zone will be an archaeological park, which will allow visitors to touch the rich archaeological heritage of Aquae Calidae, while continuing the research of the site. The second zone will be a thermal park, where a new modern spa complex will be built, along with 19 bungalows to accommodate up to 60 people, a parking lot, and alleys. An educational archaeological camp will also be built nearby, which will serve as a base for the team of archaeologists studying Aquae Calidae, as well as for archaeology students.
The third zone will be a forest park, which will include additional attractions such as a rope park, observation towers, children's playgrounds, an open-air stage, commercial facilities, and more. The project also envisages the construction of a small photovoltaic park, which will provide an average annual production of 200,640 kWh of electricity.
The goal of this large-scale project is to turn Aquae Calidae into a modern cultural, historical, and tourist complex that will combine archaeological excavations, thermal spa, accommodation, and various attractions for visitors. The Municipality of Burgas has already submitted a request to the state for the provision of the necessary land for the realization of this ambitious plan.
