The Municipality of Burgas reports record amounts of separately collected waste in 2024.

In 2024, the Municipality of Burgas reported record amounts of separately collected waste - a total of 301 tons, which is 81 tons more than the previous 2023. The largest quantities were collected for the following fractions: 70 tons of paper, 70 tons of used tires, 47 tons of used electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and lamps, 30 tons of plastic and plastic packaging, 53 tons of metals and metal packaging, 30 tons of glass packaging, as well as 1 ton of other smaller quantities of household waste.

Since the start of the waste separation program in 2018 until the end of 2024, a total of 5,213 barcode cards have been issued to citizens, which reflect the points accumulated when the respective waste is submitted. The most cards - 697 pieces - were issued at MC No. 16, located in the "Izgrev" residential area, opposite block 32. In 2024, the total number of cards issued was 242, with the most - 65 pieces - issued at MC No. 10, located in the "Vazrazhdane" residential area, Ferdinandova Street, opposite No. 108.

Out of a total of 19 mobile centers on the territory of Burgas, in 2024 the following champions were distinguished: MC No. 17 (Slaveikov residential area, next to block 14) with the largest number of transactions - 5,434 pieces, the largest amount of received waste - 13 tons, and the largest amount of bulky waste - 4 pieces.

For another year, the Municipality of Burgas is awarding prizes to the first 10 ranked citizens according to the number of points formed by the type and quantity of the submitted waste. The first three receive material prizes, and the remaining up to 10th place - gift cards for Technopolis stores worth 150 lv, 100 lv and 50 lv. All participants who have collected over 2,000 points receive 5 liters of high-quality compost produced by OP "CHISTOTA EKO". The first ten ranked for 2024 are: 1. Stoyan Mitev - 84,013 points (vacuum cleaner), 2. Nedka Shopova - 31,097 points (portable coffee machine), 3. Hristo Nedelchev - 26,018 points (juicer), 4. Proletina Halacheva - 25,479 points (150 lv), 5. Stoyan Despotov - 21,402 points (150 lv), 6. Silviya Goranova - 20,306 points (100 lv), 7. Ivilina Vasileva - 20,269 points (100 lv), 8. Ivelina Nikolova - 18,237 points (50 lv), 9. Mariana Georgieva - 11,879 points (50 lv), 10. Margaritka Marinova - 11,063 points (50 lv). The card of the winner Stoyan Mitev was issued on 09.12.2021 at MC No. 17 (Slaveikov residential area, next to block 14).
