Regional Minister Ivan Ivanov assured that the Burgas region is not under threat of water restrictions, thanks to sufficient water reserves in the Kamchiya Dam. This became clear during a working meeting in the seaside city.
Minister Ivanov announced that the Varna Water and Sewerage Company is developing a project for alternative water supply to the city. The goal is to include the project in the state budget for 2026 and implement it within one year.
Thus, the Kamchiya Dam will provide drinking water only for the Southern Black Sea coast, which will significantly reduce the risk of water shortages. The project is among the priorities of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
Currently, options are being explored for financing a water treatment plant for the Poroi Dam, which will allow its use for drinking needs if necessary.
