New Sections with Sectional Control on the "Trakia" Motorway

Eight more sections of the republican road network have been certified for sectional speed measurement, the press service of the competent institutions announced. This happened after passing a mandatory initial inspection by the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology. With these newly certified sections, their total number now reaches 64.

The new sections, subject to strict control, are located on the "Trakia" motorway. They cover the territories of three key regions in the country: Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, and Stara Zagora. Speed monitoring will be carried out in the following sections: Shtarovo - Tsalapitsa and Tsalapitsa - Shtarovo; Radinovo - Tzaratsovo and Tzaratsovo - Radinovo; Tzaratsovo - Trilistnik and Trilistnik - Tzaratsovo; Trilistnik - Opalchenetz and Opalchenetz - Trilistnik.

To get acquainted with the exact information for all certified sections, citizens can visit the website of the National Toll Management. The data is updated immediately upon certification of a new section. The section contains information about the road, including the starting and ending point of each section. In addition, a link to a map is available to users, which shows the exact location of all controlled sections. In the same section, a summarized map of the sections that have passed initial inspection and certified by the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology is also published, again accessible via a convenient link.

All currently certified sections are under strict control.

The sectional control system functions through strategically placed cameras at the beginning and end of each section. These cameras record the time it takes for each vehicle to cover the respective distance. Then the average speed is calculated. If this speed exceeds the maximum permissible according to the Road Traffic Act, the appropriate procedure is activated. The data is registered and provided by the National Toll Management to the Ministry of Interior. From there, they impose the necessary sanctions. The National Toll Management and the Ministry of Interior work in close cooperation to implement effective control, with the ultimate goal of improving road safety.
