The volunteers pulled out a variety of garbage - from metal and plastic debris, through car tires and glass bottles, to plastic bags, lead weights, tangled fishing net and parts of fishing rods. At a depth of one and a half to two meters, in close proximity to the beach, even corroded angle irons were found, posing a danger to bathers. Glass waste was also identified as a potential risk.
Unlike last year, the divers found significantly less pollution. The excellent underwater visibility allowed them to enjoy the rich marine life in the area - seahorses, various fish and crabs, which is an indicator of the cleanliness of the Burgas Bay.
The aim of the operation is not only to make the beach safer and more attractive, but also to call on everyone to take care of the cleanliness of the sea by disposing of their waste in designated areas. This year, the Burgas divers received support from colleagues from Varna.
