Liverpool have agreed a deal for the transfer of 22-year-old German footballer Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a record fee of £116 million, including bonuses. This makes him the most expensive transfer in the history of British football, surpassing the previous record of £115 million for Moises Caicedo at Chelsea.

Liverpool reached a final agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of the 22-year-old German talent Florian Wirtz for a fee of £100 million, with possible bonuses up to £16 million - a total of up to £116 million. This could make it the most expensive transfer in the history of British football, surpassing the previous record of £115 million for Moises Caicedo at Chelsea.

Wirtz impressed in the 2024/25 season with 34 goals and assists, which attracted the attention of leading clubs such as Bayern, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. The deal is awaiting medical and final confirmation, and it is expected that Wirtz will don the red jersey of Liverpool this week.

For Liverpool, this is a clear signal of ambition, as the club has already invested over £200 million this summer under the new coach Arne Slot. The acquisition of Wirtz will further strengthen the Reds' squad and place them among the favorites for the Premier League title.
