During the summer control campaign conducted by the National Revenue Agency (NRA) on the Black Sea coast, inspectors checked over 4600 commercial establishments.
The press center of the revenue administration announced that the checked establishments include restaurants, nightclubs, bars, attractions, and grocery stores.

The results of the inspections reveal a worrying statistic. A total of 1325 violations were found. The most common problem is the failure to issue a fiscal receipt, noted in 339 cases. In addition, in 231 inspections, differences were found between the amounts reported by the cash registers and the actual cash in the tills. In 89 establishments, a fiscal device was missing, and in over 300 cases, the receipts did not meet the legal requirements.
Punitive measures have been applied to a significant number of traders. Violation acts have been issued to 1184 traders, and 239 establishments are subject to sealing. Public executors, as well as teams from other institutions, also participated in the inspection process, which underlines the importance of coordinated efforts.
Furthermore, over 240 establishments with overdue obligations were visited. From them, available funds worth nearly BGN 75.3 thousand were seized. The NRA notes that many of the sanctioned owners have chosen not to appeal the acts and to pay them within a 14-day period, taking advantage of a 20 percent reduction in the fine. This shows a desire to quickly resolve problems and adhere to financial discipline.
The agency's press center emphasizes that the changes in the VAT Law, which come into force on January 1, 2024, are aimed at strengthening control over revenues, combating tax evasion and unfair competition, as well as protecting consumer rights. Citizens have the opportunity to exercise control over the reporting of revenues through the NRA's mobile application - NRA Mobile. The application, available in the App Store and Google Play, allows scanning the QR code on the receipt. This provides consumers with a means for direct verification and participation in the fight against unfair trade. Signals of violations, including failure to issue receipts and false payment documents, can be submitted to the Information Center's phone 0700 18 700 or by email at infocenter_q_at_nra.bg.
