Tomorrow, on July 3, 2025, the road administration will start an important stage of a large-scale infrastructure project that will completely change the traffic in the region between Mezdra and Lyutidol. The new route, 13 kilometers long, represents a modern four-lane road that will radically transform transportation communication in the region.

A key moment in the project is the construction of bypass routes that circumvent several settlements, including Lyutidol, Tipchenitza, Novachene, and Skravena. This approach aims to directly improve road safety for both local residents and transit passengers.

Among the most remarkable technical achievements are two tunnels near the village of Lyutidol - one with an impressive length of 490 meters, and the other 340 meters. Parallel to the tunnels, multiple facilities have been reconstructed, including bridges over the Iskar and Kalnitsa rivers, as well as a new road junction at Novachene.

Construction activities continue in the section between Lyutidol and Botevgrad, with intensive construction and installation work currently underway. In the critical sections between kilometers 174 and 177, work is being done on terrain reinforcement, river bed correction, and drainage system implementation.

Due to the ongoing construction activities, temporary restrictions and special traffic modes have been introduced. Road connections at Lyutidol remain closed, and alternative routes via third-class road III-161 and municipal road VRC-2094 will be used.

Different organizational schemes are planned for various sections. Between kilometers 175 and 179, traffic will be two-way in one lane, with temporary connections between the old and new road. In the section from kilometer 180 to 191, a four-lane route is already functioning.

At kilometer 192, a special one-sided intersection has been built, allowing transit passage between Botevgrad and Mezdra via a completely new route that bypasses the settlements of Novachene and Skravena.
