Youth Poetry Competition "Burgas Inspires" extended deadline

Due to great interest, the Student Committee of Burgas Municipality (UKOB) extends the deadline for participation in the first edition of the youth poetry competition "Burgas Inspires".

The initial deadline has been reassessed in view of the great interest and the opportunity for more young talents to participate in the event. The new deadline for submitting works is November 10, 2025, giving candidates additional time to complete their poetic works.

The competition, initiated with the aim of encouraging young authors to express their inspiration and connection with Burgas through poetry, has already caused a significant response. The atmosphere of the city, its stories and cultural heritage are intertwined in the works of young poets, who draw inspiration from their favorite Burgas authors. Each participant must create a poem inspired by a quote from a favorite Burgas poet, with the quote being stated separately in the participation form. This allows for a wealth of interpretations and diverse poetic viewpoints.

The competition is divided into two age categories, which guarantees fair evaluation of the works: 14 – 18 years and 19 – 30 years. This structure allows the jury to evaluate the poetry, taking into account the experience and perspective of each participant.

All works will be evaluated anonymously by a competent jury, including established Burgas poets and literary figures. Among them are Rumyana Emanuelidu, Dr. Loris Manuelian and Yana Valcheva. The presence of these leading names in the literary life of Burgas guarantees objectivity and a high level of evaluation of the works.

The best poems will be presented in a musical-poetic performance on December 2 at 19:00 in Hall 2 of the Exhibition Center "Flora". The event promises to be a celebration of poetry and creativity, presenting the best of the young talents of Burgas. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the inspired poems, enlivened by musical accompaniment.

The initiative supports the candidacy of Burgas for European Capital of Culture 2032. The competition is an example of how the city continues to be a source of inspiration for young artists, demonstrating its vibrant culture and support for creativity. The atmosphere of the upcoming event is expected to be filled with enthusiasm and creative energy, reflecting the spirit of Burgas as a cultural center.
