During an inspection of the under-construction section, Minister Ivan Ivanov stated that the deadline they had set - the end of June - will be met, in order to improve passability on the road between Botevgrad and Mezdra in the direction of Vidin and to ease the traffic on road I-3. The inspection was attended by the Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency, Eng. Yordan Valchev, Ventsislav Atanasov - a member of the RIA Management Board, and the Head of the National Construction Control Directorate, Lilyana Petrova.
The Minister emphasized that the emerging landslide problems are putting additional strain on the repair work in the section, but the RIA and the NCCD are doing everything necessary, according to the requirements of the law and regulations, to properly resolve the problems that have arisen. The progress that is visible is the result of a four-month effort, which will also be seen in other sections of the country, including highways.
Ensuring passability on the Mezdra - Botevgrad road will free up the detour routes, which are not adapted for the heavy traffic that is currently passing through them, and repairs will also begin there, Minister Ivanov said again.
The Boaza - Dermantsitrek section of the Hemus Motorway will be completed on time - the end of June, the beginning of July. After that, the road towards Dermantsitrek - Pleven, for which a major repair has been assigned to ensure safety, will be used. A bypass road is also being built in Dermantsitrek, which is why the launch of the first section of the motorway will be delayed.
Minister Ivanov explained that currently there is almost a billion leva to be paid, and a rhythm of payments to the companies has been created. The mayors of Vratsa - Kalin Kamenov, of Mezdra - Ivan Asparukhov, as well as the regional governor of Vratsa - Nikolay Nikolov, participated in the inspection.
