Minister Ivanov guarantees full absorption of European funds for renovation

The government guarantees the full absorption of planned financial resources for renovation of multi-family residential buildings, the Minister of Regional Development Ivan Ivanov said during a working visit to Peshtora. The key moment is reaching an agreement with the European Commission to implement 100% of the planned activities with the support of the Bulgarian Development Bank.

At the beginning of his mandate, Minister Ivanov identified serious challenges related to the delay of the National Recovery Plan. The initial forecast was for a loss of more than half of the planned funds due to ineffective management by previous governments.

"We managed to restart the process in a few months, which was blocked due to political instability," Ivanov emphasized. In parallel with the current activities, a second stage of the National Energy Efficiency Program with a budget of 2.5 billion leva is being prepared.

During his visit to Peshtora, the minister opened renovated public spaces under the Investment Program for municipal projects worth 2.6 million leva. Sections of Doyranska Epopeja, Georgi Zafirov, and Dimitar Gorov streets have been repaired.

The Mayor of Peshtora, Yordan Mladenov, expressed gratitude for preserving the investment program, which is extremely important for solving infrastructure problems in small municipalities. He emphasized the importance of the program for improving water supply, sewerage, and road infrastructure.

The local administration has prepared multiple projects, with five agreements currently signed with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works for a total value of around 22.5 million leva. Under the "Support for Sustainable Energy Renovation" procedure, the municipality has seven approved project proposals for 7.6 million leva and two reserve projects for 1.2 million leva.

Minister Ivanov expressed confidence that the investments will improve the quality of life and leave a lasting mark on the region's development. "The state will continue to support local communities and their ambitious projects," he was categorical.

The symbolic opening of the renovated urban spaces in Peshtora demonstrates a concrete result of coordinated efforts between central and local authorities towards modernizing regional infrastructure.
