According to official data from the Bulgarian National Bank, during the first three months of 2025, the Bulgarian diaspora sent a record 420 million euros home - 15.7% more than the same period a year earlier. This reflects the increased financial support from emigrants to families and businesses in Bulgaria.

The new statistical data show that Bulgarians living abroad have sent significantly more funds to their relatives in the homeland in the first quarter of 2025 compared to 2024. The total amount of money transfers reaches 420 million euros, which represents an increase of 66 million euros or 15.7% on an annual basis.

The largest transfers are from the USA (77.6 million €), Germany (76 million €), the United Kingdom (74.2 million €) and Spain (40.6 million €). These funds are used mainly for consumption, having a favorable impact on VAT revenues and supporting agriculture and small businesses, especially in smaller settlements.

According to experts, the growing monetary transfers from the Bulgarian diaspora are indicative of the active support that emigrants provide to their families and relatives in the homeland, as well as the role of the diaspora in the economic sustainability of Bulgaria.
