The new statistical data show that Bulgarians living abroad have sent significantly more funds to their relatives in the homeland in the first quarter of 2025 compared to 2024. The total amount of money transfers reaches 420 million euros, which represents an increase of 66 million euros or 15.7% on an annual basis.
The largest transfers are from the USA (77.6 million €), Germany (76 million €), the United Kingdom (74.2 million €) and Spain (40.6 million €). These funds are used mainly for consumption, having a favorable impact on VAT revenues and supporting agriculture and small businesses, especially in smaller settlements.
