The National Road Agency is undertaking significant infrastructure improvements in two different areas of Bulgaria. The first large-scale project covers major repairs of a 17-kilometer section of second-class road II-37, connecting Etropole and Zlatitsa.
The public procurement for road section repair includes a detailed investment plan with an estimated value of 43,944,606.52 leva without taxes. The deadline for submitting documents from potential contractors is set for July 31.
The project provides for comprehensive renovation of the road section passing through the Zlatishki Pass. The technical solution covers improving operational characteristics, including reconstruction of retaining walls, bridge facilities, and problematic terrains.
A key focus in the project documentation is enhancing road safety. Planned activities include modernization of vertical signage, updating road markings, and installing modern restraint systems.
The project will be financed by applying to the "Regional Development" program 2021-2027. API is partnering with the Sofia Region Administration, the municipalities of Botevgrad, Etropole and Zlatitsa, as well as the National Youth Network.
The total value of the integrated territorial investment concept amounts to 35,002,859 leva including VAT. The agency is applying for financing of 27,447,116 leva, with the remainder to be provided through own contribution.
Parallel to this project, API is also launching a second public procurement for building a new bridge at Kaloyanova. The order is worth 1,652,328 leva without taxes, with a final application deadline of August 4.
The need for the new bridge facility stems from the existing bridge's non-compliance with current technical standards. The site is located on third-class road III-642, connecting Hisarya and Kaloyanova.
An additional 21-kilometer section of the Dzhurovo-Etropole road already has a completed technical project. A road safety audit is currently being conducted, with procedures for selecting contractors planned to be announced in 2025.
