Artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum computers are among the fastest-developing technologies in the world. This was highlighted by Acad. Chavdar Ruminin, a specialist in these fields, in an interview for BTA.

Ruminin, former director of the Institute of Robotics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, explains that quantum technologies are "just around the corner" and, like artificial intelligence, will become widespread in our lives. He emphasizes the importance of training specialists in these areas, pointing to the opening of the Center for Quantum Technologies at the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University as a key step in this direction.

The Center aims to familiarize students with "the secrets and magic of the quantum world." Acad. Ruminin also highlights the future of quantum computers, which, according to forecasts, will enter the market by 2033 and will complement classical computers.

Ruminin explains key concepts such as qubits and their advantages over classical bits, as well as the difference between classical and quantum computers, which operate at low temperatures. He notes that the best achievements in the field of quantum communication are in the USA, France, China, Japan, and South Korea.

Acad. Ruminin predicts a radical breakthrough in quantum mechanics, artificial intelligence, and robotics in the next 20 years, emphasizing the potential of robotics and its application.

Ruminin also mentions the activity of Prof. Martin Vechev from the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technologies (INSAIT) at Sofia University.
