When will pensions be paid in May 2026? See the schedule!

The National Social Security Institute (NSSI) has announced the schedule for the payment of pensions and social benefits for the month of May 2026. The process includes both payments through post offices and transfers to bank accounts.

Pension payment schedule for May 2026

The payment of pensions through post offices will begin on May 7 (Thursday) and will continue until May 20 (Wednesday).

For pensioners who receive their sums via bank accounts, the transfers will also be made on May 7.

Benefits for childbirth, childcare, and unemployment

In addition to pensions, the NSSI will also distribute the following social payments:

• May 5: Payment of benefits for pregnancy and childbirth, for childcare up to two years of age, and for the adoption of a child up to five years of age (for the month of April).
• May 15: Date for the payment of unemployment benefits.

Financial indicators of the SSO

The data shows a significant increase in the expenditures for State Social Security (SSO). During the first two months of the year, the expenditures for pensions and benefits amount to nearly 2.4 billion euros. This represents an increase of 195.7 million euros (9.0%) compared to the same period last year.
