Exhibition in Burgas Gathers Legends of World Art from the 20th and 21st Centuries

The Sea Casino Cultural Center in Burgas has become the host of a major international event that brings together works by some of the most significant names in American and world art. The exhibition, presented by the Municipality of Burgas and the Vivacom Art Hall Oborishte 5 gallery, offers the Bulgarian public an exceptional opportunity to experience works by artists who have left a lasting mark on the history of pop art, abstract expressionism, and contemporary art.

The Brilliant Embroidered Portraits of Stephen Wilson

A central place in the exhibition is occupied by the work of conceptual artist Stephen Wilson, who skillfully combines modern technologies with the iconography of pop culture. Presented are his works, in which Wilson, born in 1979, combines traditional decorative arts with influences from titans such as Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol. One of the most impressive works in the exhibition is an exquisite embroidered portrait of the legendary French actress Brigitte Bardot. Through his art forms, which redefine the perceptions of the textile and fashion industries, Wilson raises important topics about the consumption of luxury goods in contemporary society and the search for identity.

Art Legends from Around the World

The large-scale exhibition includes a rich list of artists whose names are in golden letters in the world history of art. Among them is our compatriot Hristo Yavashev (Christo), famous for his monumental "wrapped" projects. Next to him are exhibited works by the pop art icon Andy Warhol, known for his emblematic portraits of Marilyn Monroe and "Campbell’s" soup cans, as well as the street artist Keith Haring, whose messages of equality and freedom resonate to this day.

The exhibition also features works by Jim Dine, who offers a personal and symbolic interpretation of pop art, using images of hearts and tools. One of the leading abstract expressionists, Willem de Kooning, is represented with works from his famous "Women" series. Visitors can also see works by Mr. Brainwash (Thierry Guetta), whose work moves on the border between street art and pop culture. From Belgium come canvases by Don Ken, inspired by pop aesthetics and Disney characters.

The list continues with Robert Mars, author of nostalgic collages with American icons, and Hunt Slonem, whose energetic images of rabbits, birds, and butterflies carry a special charm. The exhibition also includes works by Rupert Smith, a longtime collaborator of Warhol, known for his unique use of diamond dust in his works.

Bulgarian Contribution to American Influence

The exhibition does not miss Bulgarian artists who present their visual interpretation of American influence in art through their creative journey. Among them are Huben Cherkelov and Evgeni Yonov, whose works contribute to deepening the dialogue between the Bulgarian and world art scenes.

The exhibition is open for visits every day from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the "Al. G. Kodzhakafaliyata" and "Georgi Baev" halls of the Sea Casino Cultural Center. The ticket price is BGN 10 for adults, BGN 5 for students and pensioners, and children under 7 years of age enter for free. Art lovers will have the opportunity to view the exhibition until October 5.
