Large-scale infrastructure activities on route I-1/E79 will continue until July 17, with repair work covering a critical 11-kilometer section between Blagoevgrad and Simitli. Construction interventions officially started on June 30 and cover the kilometer range from the 364th to the 375th kilometer.
Due to the need for road improvements, traffic will be redirected along alternative routes. For travelers heading to the Kulata border checkpoint, the recommended route is via road III-106 towards Zelendol and subsequent connection to the Struma Highway. Drivers traveling towards Sofia should use the Struma Highway to the Zelendol junction, then pass through III-106 and re-enter route I-1/E79.
The institution explicitly emphasizes the need for understanding among drivers, appealing for increased attention, strict adherence to road rules and restrictions. The goal of the repair activities is to guarantee the safety of travelers.
