The National Statistical Institute presents a current study on consumer attitudes, revealing the dynamics of inflation expectations and economic sentiments among Bulgarian households.

The official study by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reveals significant changes in the economic attitudes of Bulgarian consumers in July 2025. The "Consumer Survey" demonstrates substantial transformations in inflation expectations and consumer confidence.

The analysis shows a categorical increase in inflation expectations, with the balance indicator rising by an impressive 14.8 points. Citizens continue to perceive a sustained trend of rising consumer prices over the past twelve months, which generates serious economic concerns.

Compared to previous periods, the current study registers a noticeable decline in the overall consumer confidence indicator. The values decrease by 4.7 points, dropping from -16.4% to -21.1%, covering both urban and rural areas of the country.

An interesting aspect of the study is the partial optimism among consumers regarding expenditures on durable goods. Despite the overall pessimistic economic picture, there is a slight improvement of 6.1 points in attitudes towards making such purchases over the next twelve months.

At the same time, assessments of the economic situation are deteriorating. Balance indicators decrease by 4.6 points for the past period and by an impressive 10.6 points for future expectations. Consumers demonstrate more pessimistic perceptions regarding their households' financial condition compared to the previous quarterly observation.

The comparison with data from July 2024 reveals the evolution of economic sentiments. The previous study showed more moderate inflation expectations and less pronounced consumer attitude trends.
