The Minister of Economy and Industry Petăr Dilov met with H.E. Dong-be Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bulgaria, to discuss the development of bilateral economic cooperation. They both emphasized that Korea is a promising partner for Bulgaria thanks to its competitive economy and innovative potential. The total trade between the two countries is expected to reach nearly half a billion US dollars in 2024.
During the meeting, Minister Dilov and Ambassador Kim discussed the opportunities for deepening the economic partnership, including through regular sessions of the Bulgarian-Korean Intergovernmental Commission. Promising areas for cooperation were identified, such as automotive industry, machinery, research and development, information and communication technologies, as well as high-tech manufacturing.
The Minister stressed that the presence of Korean companies in Bulgarian industrial parks will position them on the European map and create opportunities for joint innovation activities. He added that Bulgaria is establishing itself as a key innovation hub and will continue to stimulate high value-added and export-oriented productions.
Korean Ambassador Dong-be Kim noted that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea, which opens new prospects for expanding cooperation in various fields.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Doncho Barbalov and the Chief of Staff of the Minister Tanya Atanasova.
