The economic relations between Bulgaria and Moldova will continue to deepen, after our country is accepted into the Eurozone from January 1, 2026. This became clear during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov and the Ambassador of Moldova to our country H.E. Emil Jacota. The two discussed the possibilities for expanding the bilateral economic cooperation and outlined promising areas, including infrastructure, winemaking, energy, pharmaceuticals, and investments for technological development in high-value productions and services.

Minister Dilov stated that our country will continue to support the deepening of relations between Bulgaria and Moldova, pointing to the role of the Bulgarian-Moldovan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation as an important mechanism for the development of bilateral relations. According to BNB data, in 2024 there was an increase of over 25% in trade between the two countries compared to 2023. Direct investments from Moldova in Bulgaria by the end of 2024 amounted to 19.5 million euros, and the flow of Bulgarian investments in Moldova for the same period is 250 million euros.

H.E. Emil Jacota emphasized that Bulgaria is in the top 10 of the countries with which Moldova has economic relations, and expressed confidence that they will continue to deepen. During the meeting, the possibility of holding an intergovernmental commission and a business forum in the shortest possible time was discussed, in order to stimulate cooperation in the trade and economic field.
