The Minister of Economy and Industry Petăr Dilov visited the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, where he participated in the annual meeting and the OECD Ministerial Council meetings. During the visit, he held working meetings with the OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann and the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities (CFE) Lamia Kamal-Chaoui.
At the meeting with Mathias Cormann, Minister Dilov emphasised that Bulgaria's accession to the OECD is a key priority and all necessary steps have been taken to complete the process. He pointed out that the reforms related to membership will increase the confidence of international partners and the attractiveness of the country for foreign investment, as well as improve the competitiveness and development of the Bulgarian economy.
During the meeting with Lamia Kamal-Chaoui, Minister Dilov discussed deepening the cooperation between Bulgaria and the OECD in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He emphasised that SMEs are at the heart of the Bulgarian economy, representing 99% of the companies in the country. The Minister pointed out that the Ministry of Economy and Industry is actively working on key topics such as digitalisation, entrepreneurship, access to financing and simplification of regulations for SMEs. The meeting revealed that as a result of the joint work with the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship and SMEs, a project proposal has been prepared related to measures to promote the green transition for small and medium-sized enterprises.
