Over 5,000 unemployed citizens of Bulgaria have started seasonal employment in various European countries since the beginning of 2025. The main sectors in which they are employed include agriculture, farming, and tourism.

According to data from the Bulgarian National Radio, a significant number of unemployed Bulgarians have found temporary work abroad since the beginning of the current year. Seasonal employment abroad is part of contracts between Bulgarian and foreign employers, supported by labor offices.

Participants in these seasonal work schemes gain valuable professional experience, generate income, and often send remittances to the country to support their families. Experts define this mechanism as an important socio-economic tool that reduces unemployment and stimulates regional development, especially in sparsely populated areas.
