Mission Gallery Presents Valentin Bakardziev's Exhibition 'Tesseract - Celestial Geometry'

On September 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the Mission Gallery at the State Cultural Institute (SCI) will open the immersive exhibition 'Tesseract - Celestial Geometry' by Valentin Bakardziev, a Bulgarian artist living and creating in the Netherlands. The SCI team reports that the project was realized with the support of the National Culture Fund - Distribution Program and the Embassy of the Netherlands in the country, as part of the program marking the 20th anniversary of the institute's creation.

'The exhibition transcends the boundaries of time, matter, and dimensions, combining traditional weaving and contemporary photographic techniques. The central symbol is the tesseract - a four-dimensional cube, viewed as a form and metaphor for expanded perception and inner transformation,' the hosts explain. Bakardziev invites the audience on an emotional and conceptual journey, and the exhibition explores the layers of reality and the worlds beyond it.

The exhibition includes two types of works: hand-woven compositions from indigo-dyed corn leaves and photographs of natural textures printed on aluminum. The interaction between these materials creates a dynamic connection between the tangible and the ethereal - a space where geometry meets memory.

Valentin Bakardziev was born in Sliven, studied in Bulgaria, and subsequently lived and worked in the Dominican Republic, Italy, and now in Amsterdam. The artist has participated in exhibitions in Paris, Amsterdam, Geneva, Rijswijk, Toyota City, Chicago, and other cities, and his research in sustainable materials has been the subject of a series of publications and lectures worldwide.
