Budget 2026: Focus on real financial indicators
The entire attention of the Ministry of Finance is focused on preparing the parameters for Budget 2026. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Galab Donev emphasized that realistic figures and measures are being sought to reflect the state of the national treasury.
Currently, we are preparing all procedures for adoption according to the schedule so that the bill can be in the National Assembly by the end of June, stated Donev.
Parallel work on the budget framework
Minister Donev revealed that in parallel with the work on Budget 2026, the ministry is also preparing the calculations for Budget 2027. The main highlights include:
- Optimization of the revenue and expenditure parts.
- Ensuring sustainable financial levels for the state.
- Transparency in the planning of new national debt.
Reaction to Simeon Djankov's proposals
Regarding the ideas of former Finance Minister Simeon Djankov for closing the Bulgarian Development Bank and changes to the social security system, Galab Donev commented ironically that he will give his advice "wholeheartedly" when he himself becomes a former minister.
