The Burgas municipal transport operator "Burgasbus" EOOD has built a photovoltaic power plant on the territory of its bus depot. It provides electricity for charging 34 solo and 10 articulated electric buses serving the city lines. The 990 kWp power plant is connected to the power grid, with the surplus of generated electricity being sold.

The newly built photovoltaic power plant of "Burgasbus" EOOD is intended for charging the electric buses serving the city lines in Burgas. The power plant with an installed capacity of 990 kWp was put into operation in October 2023 and until recently powered only the needs of the public transport operator. However, from June 5, 2025, the power plant is connected to the electricity distribution network, and the surplus of generated electricity is sold.

The photovoltaic power plant powers 44 charging stations for 34 solo and 10 articulated electric buses. As an upgrade to the project, a system of local energy storage facilities with a power of 0.49 MW and a capacity of 1.075 MWh is currently being built. This will optimize the electric bus charging system, consisting of 44 charging stations, 2 service transformers, the photovoltaic power plant, and the energy storage facilities.

The implementation of this project makes the municipal transport operator independent of external energy sources and allows it to use the electricity generated from solar energy for the needs of its bus fleet.
