The photo exhibition «Following in the Footsteps of Mykhailo Parashchuk» is dedicated to the Ukrainian sculptor who lived and worked in Bulgaria for more than 40 years. Prof. Parashchuk is a unifying figure for Ukraine and Bulgaria. His activity was dedicated to building Ukrainian-Bulgarian relations, and his difficult fate was due to the turbulent 20th century.
For decades, the Embassy of Ukraine has consistently worked to restore the good name of the prominent Ukrainian, who was repressed during the socialist era. The new exhibition is the result of a creative tandem between art historian Ivo Milev and photographer Stefan N. Shterev. It introduces the beautiful sculptural compositions and ornamental solutions that adorn the most famous architectural monuments.
The concept of showcasing the exhibition of M. Parashchuk, who was repressed twice during the communist period, is taking place in the cities where the sculptor left his creative legacy: in Sofia, Pernik, Kardzhali, Varna, and Burgas. In Burgas, M. Parashchuk is the author of the exterior decoration of the premises of the modern Regional Administration.
