The Monitoring Committee of the "Transport Connectivity" Programme 2021–2027 approved the financing of two key sections of the "Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo" motorway - the section from Ruse to Byala and the bypass of Byala. The total value of the investment amounts to nearly 2 billion leva, with over 1 billion leva being a grant from the European Regional Development Fund.
The new route is part of the main TEN-T network and the Baltic Sea - Black Sea - Aegean Sea European transport corridor. The implementation of the project will increase the capacity and safety of traffic, reduce travel time, and improve connectivity in Northern Bulgaria.
During the meeting, the second procedure for the construction of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on the TEN-T road network was also presented. The total budget of this measure is 32 million leva, and it aims to improve traffic management through the creation of publicly accessible charging stations.
A new procedure for the construction of shore-to-ship power supply infrastructure in seaports included in the TEN-T network is about to be launched. This measure, with a budget of 49 million leva, will reduce emissions and environmental impact in both maritime and inland waterways.
