The European Commission has announced a new program to attract scientific talents from around the world, including from the USA, in response to the declining funding of research in some countries. The "Choose Europe for Science" initiative will invest 500 million euros in the period 2025-2027 in order to offer easier access to funding, fast visa procedures, and favorable tax and social regulations for foreign researchers.

The European Research Council will play a key role in the program, expanding its existing "super grants". It is also planned to improve the link between science and business through better conditions for startups and innovative companies. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, emphasized that scientific freedom is a central element for the sustainable development and technological independence of Europe.
