Burgas metal formation with international recognition on the world stage

The Burgas metal band Hellbound will be the official Bulgarian representative at one of the world's largest music events – Wacken Open Air 2025, which will take place from July 30 to August 2 in Germany. The musicians won this exceptional recognition after winning the national round of Metal Battle Bulgaria.

The band's lineup includes five talented young musicians: Dimitar Nikolov as lead vocalist, Yaroslav Deyneka and Preslav Dimitrov as guitarists, Georgi Dimitrov on bass guitar, and Ivaylo Zhivkov on drums. The formation was created in the seaside city of Burgas in 2022.

On June 8, 2025, they triumphed in Sofia during the final competition held at Mixtape 5 club. An international jury from seven countries, including France, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Mexico, determined Hellbound as the undisputed winner among seven competing bands.

"The feeling was indescribable when they announced our name," shares guitarist Yaroslav Deyneka. "We do not underestimate this chance and will represent Bulgaria with pride," he adds. Similar emotions are expressed by drummer Ivaylo Zhivkov: "Our entire effort was rewarded in the most unexpected way".

The prestigious participation includes a performance at the Headbangers Stage – a stage that traditionally attracts over 100,000 fans from around the world. Parallel to the international appearance, the band will also participate in two Bulgarian festivals: Hills of Rock 2025 in Plovdiv and July Morning 2025 in their hometown of Burgas.

The musicians emphasize their strong connection with the local community. "Everywhere in Bulgaria, we are received with warmth and respect," says vocalist Dimitar Nikolov. They view their participation not only as a professional achievement but also as an opportunity to be cultural ambassadors of Burgas.

Hellbound is distinguished by its energetic stage presence and original musical style. Since its creation in 2022, the band has quickly established itself as a significant participant in the Bulgarian rock and metal scene, demonstrating consistency and professionalism.

Their upcoming participation in Wacken Open Air 2025 will undoubtedly be an important step in their musical development and international recognition.
