Burgas: Students Paint Architectural Heritage in a Project

In Burgas, students from the "Yulia Krasovska Art School" embarked on an exploratory excursion, part of the ambitious cultural, historical, and educational project "Bulgaria. Burgas - Buildings with a Soul".

The project, which aims to reveal the architectural heritage of the city from the beginning of the last century, brought together young talents ready to recreate the spirit of the past in art.

The streets of Burgas, filled with life, witnessed an extraordinary lesson in history and art. The excursion, organized with attention to detail, followed a pre-prepared route, passing through emblematic buildings. The young artists, armed with brushes and paints, captured on their canvases the beauty and grandeur of the historical buildings, turning them into vivid testimonies of the past.

This time, the young creators focused on the buildings designed by architect Svyatoslav Slavov, as well as those restored by "Ecoart-Engineering" EOOD. Those present at the event had the opportunity to enjoy the works of the young artists, exhibited outdoors.

During the walk, the children had the privilege of being accompanied by a special guest – Rositsa Topalova from the Regional Historical Museum – Burgas. She told moving stories about old Burgas, sharing her grandmother"s memories of the French school "St. Joseph".

The air was filled with enthusiasm when the participants met Alexander Vodenicharov - grandson of Yovi Vodenicharov. The young artists had the opportunity to paint the house of Yovi Vodenicharov, learning more from Alexander about the history of the family and the house itself - a valuable part of the architectural heritage of Burgas.

The sun reflected in the children"s eyes as they shared the stories of the buildings and details they had captured on their canvases, guided by Yulia Krasovska, a teacher at the school. The children touched the spirit of old Burgas and discovered how history can come alive in their paintings.

The organization of this educational excursion was supported by Burgas Municipality, the State Archives - Burgas, Rositsa Topalova, curator of the Ethnographic Exhibition at the RIM Burgas, Alexander Vodenicharov - grandson of Yovi Vodenicharov and journalist Desislava Geneva. The scientific director of the project is Sonya Kehlibareva.

The project "Bulgaria. Burgas - Buildings with a Soul" is part of the program in support of Burgas_q_s candidacy for European Capital of Culture in 2032.
