In Burgas, facilities from Phase 2 of the Integrated Water Project were opened. Water supply and sewerage networks have been reconstructed, improving the living standards of residents. Over 141,000 people benefit from the improvements.

Two key sites from the Integrated Water Project - Phase 2, were put into operation in Burgas, reports the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA). At a symbolic ceremony in the city today, the reconstructed water supply and sewerage networks in the "Burgas - East" and "Burgas - West" areas were opened. The event is of key importance for improving the living standards of tens of thousands of residents.

The implementation of these projects guarantees higher quality and reliable water supply for tens of thousands of residents, while also improving the city's environmental infrastructure. This was noted by Magdalena Andonova from "Water Supply and Sewerage" EAD-Burgas.

The "Burgas - East" area covers the Izgrev, Zornitsa, Central City Part, Akatsii and Pobeda neighborhoods. Within the framework of this project, significant sections of the water supply network were reconstructed - 12.6 km, new facilities with a length of 1.9 km were built, and the sewerage network was renovated by 1.3 km.

We remind that construction started in June 2022.

The "Burgas - West" area includes the Dolno Ezerovo, Lozovo, the Northern Industrial Zone and the Slaveykov complex. There, 12.7 km of the water supply network were reconstructed, and the sewerage infrastructure was renovated. 3.7 km of the sewerage system have been renovated and 14.3 km of new sewerage infrastructure have been built. The construction works were completed in July 2025.

As a result of these improvements, over 141,676 residents and guests of Burgas are already benefiting from the improved water supply and reduced losses in the water transmission network. The new sewerage system will serve over 142,076 equivalent residents, fully meeting European requirements for wastewater treatment and discharge.

The two newly opened sites are a logical continuation of the activities of Phase 1 of the Integrated Water Project, completed at the end of 2023. It included investments in the "Sarafovo" neighborhood, the "Meden Rudnik" complex and the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant "Meden Rudnik".

Phase 2 is being implemented under the "Environment" 2021-2027 Program, which is co-financed by the European Union. The total cost of the project is significant - 412,227,430.73 leva, of which 238,433,317.76 leva are provided by the European Union.
