Burgas Municipality and the "Together in an Hour" Foundation are launching the second consecutive cycle of a successful initiative for professional support of novice teachers, which aims to sustainably develop the education sector in the region.

A large-scale educational initiative is gaining momentum in Burgas, focusing on the professional growth of young pedagogical staff. The "Young Teachers" program, initiated by Deputy Mayor Mihail Nenov, represents a strategic mentorship and support model in the school community.

The past academic year was marked by significant progress - 57 experienced teachers took on the role of mentors, undergoing specialized training modules. The goal of these qualification activities is to build effective professional communities and transfer pedagogical knowledge between generations.

According to expert analysis by Dr. Neli Koleva from the foundation, a key moment in the program is support precisely in the initial stages of career development for young educators. Mentorship support focuses on adaptation, motivation, and professional development of novice teachers.

Vasiliya Svileva, chief expert in the municipal directorate, emphasizes that mentorship not only helps new teachers but also stimulates reflection among established pedagogical specialists. Mentors rethink their own methods, especially regarding interactive learning and student participation.

Practical challenges for young teachers include classroom management, documentation, and building professional confidence. Mentors provide targeted support in these critical areas, sharing rich practical experience.

Feedback is collected and analyzed systematically, which allows for continuous improvement of the program. Participants define mentorship as a mutually enriching activity that goes beyond traditional methods of professional development.

Key qualities for a successful mentor include patience, empathy, the ability to build trust, and readiness for constructive collaboration. One participant shares an eloquent metaphor: "A mentor should be like a compass, not a driver".

The official certificate presentation ceremony is planned for autumn, which will mark another successful program cycle. The number of mentors who have gone through the initiative already reaches an impressive 84 people.

The initiative demonstrates an innovative approach to professional development in the education sector, creating a sustainable model of support and continuity between generations of pedagogical specialists.
