The mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov and the rector of Trakya University in Edirne Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatiplar discussed the possibilities for strengthening academic exchange and cooperation between higher education institutions in the two cities. The meeting was held during a visit of a Turkish delegation to Burgas.

The meeting took place during the visit of a delegation from the Turkish university to Burgas. Also present were the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Burgas Tolga Orkun, the Chairman of the Municipal Council - Burgas Mihail Hadjiyanov, the Director of the "Education" Directorate in the Municipality of Burgas Katya Misheva and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Trakya University.

Mayor Nikolov emphasized that Burgas places a strong emphasis on the development of higher education as a strategic factor for attracting young people and sustainable development of the city. He announced the good news that the Bulgarian Parliament has approved the idea of ​​creating a Faculty of Pharmacy at the University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" - Burgas, and that the construction of a Student Campus on an area of ​​30 decares has begun.

In turn, Prof. Hatipler expressed readiness to intensify academic exchange, including in the field of medicine and pharmacy. He shared that Trakya University is working successfully with a number of foreign partners and sees a real opportunity for the exchange of students, teachers and research projects with the universities in Burgas. Special interest was also expressed by the Conservatory of Music in Edirne, which is seeking cultural exchange with Burgas.

During the visit, the possibility of cultural cooperation in the context of Burgas' candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2032, including in the field of music and performing arts, was also discussed.
