Burgas will be the host of the first student beach volleyball tournament, which will be held on May 31 and June 1. The organizers of the event are the municipal enterprise "International Youth Cultural Center"-Burgas and the volleyball club "Burgas beach volley". Thirteen men's and nine women's teams from various schools in the city will compete on the courts of the "Burgas beach arena" from 08:30 am.
The matches on June 1 will be part of the festive sports afternoon in the program of the Municipality of Burgas. Among the participants in the debut edition of the tournament are AEG "Geo Milev", German Language High School "Goethe", PPMG "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov", PGMKR "St. Nikola", Trade High School, SU Yordan Yovkov", PGSAG "Kolyo Ficheto", SU "Konstantin Petkanov", SU "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski", Vocational High School of Computer Programming and Innovation, PGHTI "Acad. Nikola Zelinsky", PGRE "Georgi S. Rakovski" and PGT.
The organizers state that the event aims to ignite the interest in beach volleyball among the youth in Burgas. They thank all the teams for their participation and wish them success, calling above all for fun and fair play.
The tournament will also include a charity cause in support of 14-year-old Hristan Vasilev, who is fighting a rare and aggressive disease - Juvenile angiofibroma. After three difficult operations, the disease has returned, now affecting the youth's hearing and vision. His last hope is a specialized hospital in Heidelberg, Germany.
Admission for spectators who wish to watch the matches is free.
