A partial state of emergency has been declared in Burgas following large-scale flooding caused by record rainfall. Roads are closed, a non-school day has been announced, and there is a threat of evacuation. The situation will remain in effect until October 6th.

By order of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, a partial state of disaster has been declared in the municipality of Burgas. This decision comes against the backdrop of the dramatic events that have unfolded in the region following a large-scale flood. The disaster struck hardest in the area of the city, as well as in the neighborhoods of Ribarsko Selishte, the village of Marinka, and the Chernitze villa zone.

The situation is complicated by record rainfall. Data from the hydrometeorological station in the Chernitze villa zone shows that over 250 liters of rain per square meter have fallen in the last twelve hours. This has led to catastrophic consequences, including the collapse of a bridge, which has effectively cut off access to the villa zone.

In the neighborhood of Kraimorie, the amount of rainfall reached 186 liters per square meter, and in the Ribarsko Selishte area – 117 liters per square meter.

The impact of the disaster on the lives of local residents is visible. A non-school day has been declared for the students of the school in the Pobeda neighborhood. In addition, traffic from the Meden Rudnik complex to the center of Burgas is difficult due to abandoned vehicles in the area of the Mr. Bricolage store.

The tragic picture also includes closed land access to the Kraimorie fishing port, where there is information about overturned five boats.

The Mayor of Burgas has convened the Municipal Crisis Headquarters to coordinate actions to manage the situation. If necessary, the authorities are ready to carry out evacuations in the areas most affected by the heavy rainfall.

Currently, vehicle traffic in the Ribarsko Selishte and Chernitze areas is restricted.

The partial state of disaster will be in effect until October 6, which indicates the seriousness of the situation and the need for continuing efforts to restore normal life in the affected areas.
