The celebrations of Botev in Sofia - memorial activation of the city sirens

On June 2, 2025, at 12:00 pm, the citizens of Sofia will witness the special activation of the city sirens. This will be a memorial gesture in memory of the national hero Hristo Botev and all who gave their lives for the liberation of Bulgaria. The signal will not be related to any threat or danger to the population, but will have a purely symbolic and commemorative character.

The initiative is organized by the Sofia Municipality, which wishes to fittingly mark the 147th anniversary of the tragic death of Botev and his detachment. The activation of the public announcement system will continue for one minute, thus honoring the memory of all who gave their lives for the freedom of Bulgaria.

The Mayor of Sofia, Radostin Rachev, called on citizens to participate in this memorial ceremony by observing a minute of silence in honor of the work of Botev and his comrades. He emphasized that this is an important moment for national unity and veneration of the heroism of our ancestors.
