Bulgaria needs a clear energy strategy and an active role in guaranteeing Europe's energy security, wrote GERB leader Boyko Borisov on his official Facebook page. In the conditions of a dynamic international environment and an accelerated energy transition, nuclear energy remains a key factor for stability, predictability, and low-carbon development. With consistent policies and strategic partnerships, our country can strengthen its position both in the region and within the European Union, Borisov also points out. 

He adds that he expressed his position at a meeting with Bernard Fontana, Chairman of EDF (Électricité de France) - the state-owned energy company of France and one of the leading energy corporations in the world, and Marie Dumoulin, the Ambassador of France to Bulgaria.

We also discussed the role of nuclear energy for Europe's energy security, the strategic importance of Kozloduy NPP for the Bulgarian energy system, and the need for diversified supplies of nuclear fuel. France is an undisputed leader in the development of nuclear technologies and has many years of experience in building and managing nuclear power plants, which opens up opportunities for closer cooperation between EDF and the Bulgarian energy sector, Borisov also writes.  

According to him, energy independence and the development of nuclear energy are key to the sustainable development and competitiveness of European economies. Bulgaria must use its strategic partnerships and the potential of its energy system to actively contribute to the future of European energy policy. I am convinced that with joint efforts, Bulgaria and France can deepen their cooperation in the energy sector and be strong partners in building a secure, clean, and sustainable energy system in Europe, adds Boyko Borisov.
