BNB Unveils the Design of Bulgarian Euro Coins

The Bulgarian National Bank presented the design of the Bulgarian euro coins, which will begin to circulate from January 1st of next year, in a specially prepared informational video material. The video was created within the framework of a large-scale information and publicity campaign related to the upcoming introduction of the euro in our country, it is clear from an official statement published on the central bank's website.

At the same time, the BNB reminds that the sale of starter kits with euro coins with the Bulgarian national side will begin on December 1st of this year. This is an important step in the process of preparing for the currency change that is coming.

As part of this preparation, the central bank has prepared additional materials, including detailed visualizations of the images and technical characteristics of the coins. These materials are intended to facilitate the training of employees to recognize Bulgarian euro coins.

In order to familiarize the general public with the final appearance and design of the Bulgarian euro coins, a short video clip has been created, accessible at the specified link. The training of employees to recognize the new coins will be carried out with the help of specially developed visualizations of the images and their technical characteristics, which are also published on a certain link.

The BNB again emphasizes that the sale of starter kits with euro coins with the Bulgarian national side will start on December 1, 2025. It is important to note that the central bank will sell starter kits only to individuals. For its part, "Bulgarian Posts" EAD will offer starter kits only to individuals, while commercial banks will provide them to both traders and individuals.

The price of one starter kit is set at 20 leva for individuals and 200 leva for legal entities.

Detailed information about the starter kits, including their content, conditions and order of purchase, is provided in Ordinance No. 46 of July 31, 2025, for the initial loading and re-loading with euro banknotes, euro coins and starter kits with euro coins.

In addition, the Bulgarian National Bank organizes special trainings for employees from different organizations. The trainings are dedicated to the recognition of euro banknotes and euro coins, in compliance with the strict standards of the European Central Bank. Participants in these trainings are representatives of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria, "Bulgarian Posts" EAD, the Association for Modern Trade and the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria. The trainings are aimed at employees who will have a key role in the training of the other colleagues in the respective organization, it is stated in the official announcement.
