Historic success for Bulgaria at IPhO 2026
The Bulgarian national physics team achieved another major success at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), held in Bucaramanga, Colombia. The prestigious competition included 370 students from 87 countries.
"Your successes are proof that talent, hard work, and perseverance can turn dreams into real achievements," the institutions noted while sending off the team.
Bulgaria's medalists:
- Silver medals: Svetoslav Arabov, Yordan Petkov, Alexander Nikolov, and Miroslav Draganov.
- Bronze medal: Petar Popov.

The team leaders are Prof. Dr. habil. Miroslav Abrashev and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neno Todorov from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Bulgaria, as one of the founding countries of the Olympiad since 1967, once again solidifies its position on the global scientific stage.
